Jyotirvidya Parisanstha (known as JVP to people of Pune) is an oldest association of amateur astronomers in India. On August 22, 1944 eminent citizens of pune formed JVP, primarily for the spread of knowledge of astronomy among the public also to make their own contribution as far as possible. It was the first association of its kind and remained so far for a few decades. Right from conception, JVP has been actively working on the propagation of astronomy in purely scientific temperament

Basic Astronomy Course - Summer '11

JVP is conducting Basic Astronomy Course (BAC) since 1992. The Course schedule for Summer '11 is from 10 May 2011 to 26 May 2011. BAC covers every aspect of "Amateur Astronomy", which will drive beginners into the world of Amateur Astronomy. Topics covered in BAC are History of Astronomy, Astronomical Measures, Calendar, Solar System, Astronomical Events, Instruments, Cosmology and many more. This is a JVP Certificate Course.
