Welcome to Jyotirvidya Parisanstha

Jyotirvidya Parisanstha (known as JVP to people of Pune) is an oldest association of amateur astronomers in India. On August 22, 1944 eminent citizens of pune formed JVP, primarily for the spread of knowledge of astronomy among the public also to make their own contribution as far as possible. It was the first association of its kind and remained so far for a few decades. Right from conception, JVP has been actively working on the propagation of astronomy in purely scientific temperament

'Public Star Party - February 5, 2011'

Public Star Party is monthly event of JVP. As its Febuary, not only is Orion high but the big dipper is on the way up, Cassiopeia is on the way down, Leo is already making its Appearance in the evening and the Northern Cross plants itself upright. Along with this waxing cresent Moon close to Jupiter, 10o opend up rings of Saturn, Blazing Morning Star Venus and many more hevenly objects. Night long event
